My Story

Hi, I'm Amanda! I'm a former professional dancer turned Registered Dietitian, originally from Georgia now living it up in the Big Apple, New York City. When I'm not helping people ditch diet culture and regain love for their bodies, you can find me making Tiktoks, drinking Merlot and/or listening to Taylor Swift.

I have my Bachelors in Science from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and completed my Dietetic Internship at NewYork- Presbyterian.

I spent 13 years of my life striving to be the best dancer I could be. I spent hours in front of mirrors judging every inch of my body and eating what I thought I needed to to be "healthy". At the age of 18, while I was away at college studying dance, my passion for dance and fitness became an unhealthy obsession and I developed an eating disorder. I ended up hospitalized and spent the next 6 months in and out of treatment centers trying to find the right “fix” to get me back into the dance studio. It was during treatment that a member of my team really spoke to me and helped me to regain my life, my Dietitian. This eye-opening experience showed me my true calling and I started on the path to becoming a Registered Dietitian, in hopes of helping people regain control of their life free from disordered eating, chronic dieting, and food-associated guilt.

The path to RD

So I decided I wanted to become a Registered Dietitian. Easy right? NOPE. What I thought was going to be semesters of nutrition and cooking classes quickly turned into me taking Organic Chemistry and Microbiology. I was overwhelmed, but I was determined.

And as if that weren’t enough, I decided I wanted to bring dance back into my life and joined the NCAA Division 1 dance team- again GO DAWGS. I was finally able to dance and maintain a healthy relationship with food and myself at the same time- something 18-year-old me would think impossible.

Then what happened?

I graduated and I left the little town of Athens, GA for the big bright lights of New York City. Fast forward 2 years; I graduated from my dietetic internship, passed the RD exam, and dove headfirst into cultivating my virtual private practice.

Where am I now?

A phrase I choose to live by is that “everything happens for a reason”. It may seem cliche or overused but it’s helped me look back on some of the hardest times of my life and be grateful for the journey because it brought me here. So here I am, a former dancer (although my living room would say it’s not former), now Registered Dietitian and food freedom coach who spends my days spreading the message of self-love and food freedom on all platforms I can get my hands on including; Amanda The Dietitian Instagram, Tiktok, and with my clients in the Food and Body Freedom Project.

I still love to dance and sing- although most of my skills are confined to the walls of my apartment- and I spend a decent amount of time watching musicals and seeing shows in the city. I’m also a BIG football fan and an avid viewer of the bachelorette. But that’s enough about me for now. Feel free to reach out if you want to get to know more about me and see if we are a good match to work together!
